Knights Hospitaller

Picture
Priory of the Sunshine Coast
The priory of the Sunshine Coast of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller is centred on Buderim with Saint Mark's Church being its Conventual Church. this ancient Order of Chivalry traces its history back to the 1100's at the time of the Crusades when it founded a Hospital in Jerusalem for sick pilgrims and Knights wounded  in the battle for the Holy Land. Down through the ages the Order has centred its works of mercy on caring for the sick and the poor. Membership, which is by invitation, is offered to men and women who have made a significant contribution to society both by their personal good works and achievements. The Prior and Vice Prior are both members of Saint Mark's congregation, with the Bishop being the Conventual Chaplain.
